TEFL 512 takes a research-oriented look at how English instruction adapts when the audience is not "general learners" but engineers, lawyers, academics, or any group with domain-specific communicative needs. You'll read across the major theoretical streams that shape the field, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Academic Literacies, genre theory, composition studies, multimodality, and put that reading to work through essays, an oral presentation, and discussion of how to actually design an ESP course or program. It sits in the graduate teacher-education track, so the emphasis is less on classroom techniques and more on developing the analytical lens you'd need to justify curricular choices or pursue thesis work in EAP/EVP.
