A graduate-level survey of how human language actually works, built specifically for future English teachers who need to understand the system they're teaching rather than just speak it fluently. You'll move through the standard layers, sound, word, sentence, meaning, use, but the real work is turning that analysis into something useful: dissecting learner errors, evaluating textbook explanations, running small corpus queries, and writing reflective pieces on your own language awareness. It sits early in the TEFL sequence as the linguistic backbone that later methodology and SLA courses assume you already have.
