CINT 503 Introduction to the Practice of Interpreting

CINT 503 is the bridge between knowing two languages and actually working as a conference interpreter, it treats interpreting as a profession with its own ethics, market dynamics, preparation rituals, and stress economy, not just a linguistic skill. You'll spend the semester building that professional toolkit through homework sets, two learning portfolios, role-plays, and mock conferences, culminating in a midterm and final that are both live simulations rather than written exams. It sits at the front of the interpreting track, so the habits you form here, glossary work, ethical reflexes, AI-tool fluency, handling clients, are what later booth and consecutive courses assume you already have.
