This graduate course in the Curriculum and Instruction program treats assessment not as test-writing mechanics but as the feedback loop that actually drives learning decisions in K-12 classrooms, balancing formative tools (where you're going) against summative ones (where you've arrived). You'll write specific learning outcomes, draft and item-analyze your own tests, design authentic and peer-assessment tasks, and build a full assessment plan tied to real instruction, alongside a midterm and final. It's aimed at current or future teachers who need to defend why a grade means what it means, useful groundwork for any later CI course on instructional design or program evaluation.
