Cognitive psychology is the scientific study of how the mind actually works, how raw sensory input becomes perception, attention, memory, language, and the reasoning you use to make decisions, and this course walks through the experimental findings and theoretical frameworks that built the field. You'll engage with the material through lectures, a quiz, homework, and a midterm and final, with assessments that test both your grasp of key concepts and your understanding of how researchers actually design experiments and interpret results. It's a required sophomore-level foundation for the psychology major, feeding directly into upper-level courses on perception, memory, neuroscience, and developmental psychology, and giving you the vocabulary to read empirical papers in the rest of the curriculum.
