Quantum computation rebuilds the idea of "computing" on top of quantum mechanics, so the course is really about learning to think in state vectors and unitaries instead of bits and gates, and seeing where that shift actually buys you something. You will spend a lot of time pushing Dirac notation around, proving Bell inequalities, working out teleportation and superdense coding by hand, and tracing through the circuits behind Deutsch, Grover, and Shor to see exactly where the speedup comes from. Linear algebra and some comfort with proofs are the real prerequisites; what you learn here feeds directly into quantum information, cryptography, and complexity-theory courses, and is increasingly the baseline literacy for anyone touching quantum hardware or algorithms research.
