CTIS 259 Database Management Systems and Applications

CTIS 259 is where you learn to think about data as a structured system rather than scattered files, moving from real-world requirements down through E-R diagrams, normalization, and relational algebra to a working schema you actually query. Most of your time goes into hands-on Oracle labs writing SQL and PL/SQL, plus a lab exam and quiz that test whether you can build queries, manage transactions, and enforce constraints under pressure. It's the backbone course for everything data-heavy that follows in CTIS, web apps, reporting, and any later system you'll touch that talks to a database.
