CTIS 491 Software Validation Verification and Testing

Testing here is treated as a discipline in its own right, not an afterthought to coding: you learn to think about how software fails, how to systematically expose those failures, and how to manage the whole verification process across a project's lifecycle. The bulk of your effort goes into a six-part lab sequence where you take a sample project from requirements analysis and test planning through procedure design, execution, bug reporting, and re-testing, alongside lectures covering static techniques, black/white-box design, and experience-based methods aligned with the ISTQB foundation syllabus. As a senior CTIS elective it leans on what you already know about the software lifecycle and feeds directly into industry QA roles, where being able to defend a test strategy and write a clean defect report matters as much as being able to write the code under test.
