MSC 412 is the capstone where you finish and defend the large-scale piece you began in Composition VII, treating the orchestra not as a list of instruments but as a timbral medium you've learned to shape with intention. Most of your time goes into the score itself, roughly 125 hours on the project alongside weekly studio meetings, a portfolio, and three internal assessments, culminating in a final jury where you defend the work's technique, orchestration, and intellectual stance in proper professional vocabulary. It's the moment your training as a composer has to read as a coherent personal language, not just a collection of techniques.
