IPE treats the global economy as a political arena, asking how states, markets, and power shape outcomes in trade, money, finance, and development rather than treating economics as a self-contained technical domain. You'll be reading heavily across competing theoretical traditions, writing several response papers and a full research paper proposal, and presenting in a seminar format where the weekly discussion is the course. It's a graduate-level foundation for anyone working on globalization, sanctions, financial crises, or the rise of China, and it pairs naturally with IR theory and comparative political economy seminars once you start framing your own thesis questions.
